Leeds is where it all started for us — Game Set Match, playing out of John Charles Centre for Sport, is our home club and the place we learnt to play pickleball. It's the standard every court on this route gets measured against.
Game Set Match runs Yorkshire's biggest pickleball setup on 8 indoor acrylic courts at John Charles Centre for Sport, south Leeds. The club spans the full range from complete beginners to players rated 4.5+, with sessions split by level rather than mixed — a dedicated Beginners slot plus separate Intermediate/Advanced play, so it's a good stop whatever stage you're at.
Pickleball runs four days a week: Monday (12:00–14:00 Social, 18:00–19:30 Beginners, 19:00–21:00 Intermediate/Advanced), Wednesday (same as Monday minus the lunchtime slot — 18:00–19:30 Beginners, 19:00–21:00 Intermediate/Advanced), and lunchtime-only sessions on Thursday and Friday (12:00–14:00). Sessions are £12.50.
Our take: this is where our whole pickleball journey started, and it's still our benchmark for what a well-run club session looks like — level-appropriate sessions from beginner to advanced, proper coaching pedigree behind it, and a strong competitive edge when you want one.

Why this is home: Game Set Match is where we picked up a paddle for the first time, and it's still the club we measure every other stop on the route against. Having a genuine beginner pathway right through to 4.5+ play, all under one club, is rare, and it's a big part of why we got hooked.
A smaller, pay-to-play indoor option on the south side of the city — three wood courts, run through Active Leeds. Worth knowing about if GSM's Monday sessions don't line up with your schedule.
Sessions run Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — Monday and Wednesday have the fullest schedule (social plus beginners and intermediate/advanced), Thursday and Friday are lunchtime-only.
Beginners and Intermediate/Advanced run as separate slots, not mixed together — pick the one that matches where you're at.
The 18:00–19:30 Beginners slot on Monday and Wednesday is the easiest way in if you're just starting out.
Every stop on this route gets measured against Leeds, whether we say so or not — this is where we learnt the game. Game Set Match at John Charles Centre for Sport is a genuinely well-run club: strong coaching pedigree, a real mix of levels in the same session, and enough competitive depth to keep pushing us. It's home court, and it shows.
